Many travel agencies do not fulfill what they say, nor do they take into account the interests of the traveler.

They offer old cars, without passing the technical service, travel fast, do not stop at places of interest for photos, needs and rest.

The accommodation does not have services such as hot water, air conditioning or unhygienic bathrooms.

Drivers do not know European languages and some drive at high speed on dangerous roads.

Currency

The dirham is the official currency of Morocco. The plural form is darahim although in French and Spanish the form dirhams is used. It is divided into 100 cents. The exchange rate is approximately 1 Euro = 11DH. In Spain, you can exchange euros for dirhams in the Moroccan consulates although the most comfortable is to change at the Moroccan airport or in the bank branches of the cities. In some hotels you can pay by credit card.

Time

In Morocco it is 1 hour less in winter, and 2 hours less in summer (compared to Spain).

Health

It is not necessary to be vaccinated. In pharmacies you can find the same medicines as in Europe.

Climate

Due to its geographical situation Morocco has a warm climate (except December, January and February which are the coldest months). In the desert in August temperatures can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Gastronomy

Travelers from other countries should only drink bottled mineral water.
Green tea is the national drink and its preparation and consumption is a ritual.
Typical dishes are lamb tagine, vegetable and meat stew and couscous.
In Moroccan cuisine there is a great variety of spices.

According to tradition, men are not allowed in the kitchen. To them is reserved the learning of the tea with mint and of the dishes that are going to be served outside, like the skewers and the Mechui (lamb roasted in rotisserie or in the oven very slowly).

Bread is usually baked in the ovens at home and rarely bought in a bakery.

The number of typical Moroccan recipes is not very large due to the custom of oral transmission of recipes from mothers to daughters.

There is no habit of reading cookbooks, and this is due to the previous existence of large traces of illiteracy in the female sector. It is very common to receive as advice when telling you a recipe to say “Your eyes are the scales”.

Shopping

In Morocco everything is a little cheaper than in Europe. There are no fixed prices, except in supermarkets, grocery stores, hotels and restaurants.

To buy you have to negotiate the price (bargaining) with the seller.
